November and December can be a magical time to visit the Peak District.  Crisp, crunchy walks and bright blue skies and the changing colours of the trees are some of the delights of a stay at this time of year.  What’s more you will have space in the Peak District to yourself;  the walks and views may well be quiet with fewer people taking time off.

That’s not to say that there isn’t plenty to see and do.  Take a look at our round up of events below.

Peak District events in November and December

Chatsworth Christmas market

16 Nov to 4 Dec

Grand Bazaar and Christmas lights switch on, Pavilion Gardens, Buxton

Winter may not be the obvious time for a country escape but there are plenty of things to do in the Peak District, whether you want a relaxing holiday or a healthy break.

Winter is a great time for a walk, just wrap up well and enjoy being in the countryside.

Take a foodie visit to Tideswell, which has so many lovely places to relax, eat and drink.  Local delights include pies, pastries, pubs, cafes, cake and so much more.  And why not visit the famous Cathedral in the Peak at the same time?

Both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall two of the Peak District’s most well-known stately homes are open in the winter. This winter Chatsworth has an Alice in Wonderland theme and both houses are lovely when decorated for Christmas.

Another local highlight in the winter is the Matlock Bath Illuminations – think Blackpool illuminations on water!  And the Hartington School of food and drink has cookery classes at all levels.

After your winter’s day out what is better than coming back to a cosy holiday cottage with the log fire alight and a glass of wine? Both our Peak District cottages have log fires and we also provide unlimited free logs and kindling.

A winter Peak District break may be just the thing to recharge the batteries and don't forgot low season holiday cottage prices will be good value too!
