Golf courses in the Peak District

This golf course is situated in the Buxton area and was opened in 1925.  It was commissioned by the Duke of Deonshire as part of his Estate and designed by the celebrated course designer, Dr Alister Mackenzie.  It is one of the top golf courses in Derbyshire and was carefully designed to be appealing to golfers of all abilities.  In addition there are magnificent views over the Peak District.

This course was designed by the famous Scottish designer, James Braid and opened in 1947.  Vistitors are welcome to Kedleston Park throughout the week and it is recommended that visitors contact the professional's shop for available tee times for individuals or small groups of less than 10.  It is situated in the 155 acres of the beautiful grounds of the historic Kedlestone Hall and is 3.9 miles north of Derby on the Keddlestone road.

This course is known locally as Walton Golf Course.  It was originally a 9 hole course which was expanded to 18 holes just before the start of the 2nd World War and it has not changed since then.  It is a beautiful and well looked after course with wonderful views of north east Derbyshire.  It also has an attractive Clubhouse, lounge and excellent catering facilities.  It is situated two miles south of Chesterfield.

The Horsley Lodge Hotel and Golf Course has recently been voted the number one golf course by HSBC and the fairways have been constructed around many water hazards so a straight shot is required!  They welcome visitors and it is possible to book online.  The course is situated in beautiful parkland near Horsley and 15 minutes north of Derby.

This golf course is set in beautiful countryside, it has 18-holes and offers an interesting challenge.  It is a parkland course in the High Peak of Chapel-en-le-Frith which is known as 'the capital of the Peak District'.  The front nine holes are set on the side of Combs Reservoir and they are followed by a back nine that ends over a stream to the home green.  They welcome visitors and recommend their renowned catering.  It is possible to book online.  The course is situated close to Buxton and the postcode is SK23 9UH.  It is a convenient golf course for visitors to Riverside House holiday cottage. www.riversidehouse-peakdistrict.co.uk
